Janne Stiefel - ETH Zürich
Mechanical engineering, robotics, and full-stack product work.
Right now I'm focused on Rocky - a 3D-printed quadruped I'm building with a friend. Three more projects below: a Mars rover drill, an autonomous robot, and a mobile app for sailors.

Selected work
Four projects.
ROCKY
A 3D-printed Quadruped.
Twelve servos across four legs, ESP32 motion control, Jetson Orin Nano running ROS2 for autonomy.
CRATER
A Mars Rover Drill.
Drill subsystem for an ETH Zürich student rover entered in the European Rover Challenge 2026. Designed in a small team.
JEFF
An Autonomous Robot.
A small voice-controlled robot. Runs a local LLM, speech-to-text, and object detection on a Jetson Orin Nano. Motion control on Arduino.
NAUTIQ
A Mobile App for Sailors.
Mobile and web app for sailors and boat owners to post repair questions and share fixes. Built end-to-end on Expo and Supabase.
About
I'm in the fourth semester of my Mechanical Engineering bachelor at ETH Zürich. The Innovationsprojekt in my third semester — a team build where we designed and shipped a line-following robot that had to accomplish certain tasks within a time limit, in just a few months — got me into robotics, and I've been chasing projects ever since. I enjoy the software side as much as the mechanical work; most of what's on this site sits at that intersection.
